Early each September the team @bridgeviewmarine Denny Island brings in fishing lodge boats for winter service and storage at Bella Bella Cannery.
The runs are always a Fall highlight and yesterday it was @duncanbylodge boats headed North. With Captain Don McNeice running the BV30 with Twin 500 Mercs, 10 boats in tow and leading the way…the rest of the crew ran another half dozen rigs to Bella.
Perfect conditions and some great weather made for a fine 70-mile jaunt…and a beauty end of summer run!

West Coast tuna trip for the ages!
Seventy albacore in four days off Winter Harbour and about a million nautical miles. One big travel day of trucks, planes and taxis to roll from North Van Island to Sandspit on Haida Gwaii for 4th Annual Tuna Poke. Three more epic days running up to 100 miles each way…all for 11 Albacore tubs. But tubbies they were…all mid to high twenties! And enough for the derby win 🏆
It took two rock solid boats in BV30 Big Coast and Gladiator, awesome crew in Oli, Nick and Tanner, and of course @bridgeviewmarine and @mercurymarine for getting us out there and back. A crazy nautical plan hatched a year ago has come to fruition!
All in all, Bryce McLaren and I caught tuna offshore Vancouver Island…and just over 48 hours later even bigger tuna on Haida Gwaii on our way to a crazy derby repeat!
Somewhere just South of 1000 miles and seven big days…we give mucho thanks to fine friends who helped along the way…
