Wannock River Chinook!
There’s special…and then there’s Wannock River Chinook Salmon. Some awesome fish and incredible work from the Percy Walkus Hatchery science team at the 2026 broodstock fishery. The target goal is 300,000 fertilized eggs in the hatchery, roughly 40 male and 40 female salmon.
Fish that aren’t kept for hatchery are released back into the river…and fish used for hatchery distributed in Wuikinuxv for smoking and winter food.
Forecast for today is nothing but sunshine as we near halfway point of the Wannock egg take…the coolest salmon conservation project on Earth!

Awesome premiere of Man In Motion: The Rick Hansen Story at Vancouver International Film Festival this weekend. In celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Man In Motion World Tour, the movie was heartfelt and moving (as you’d expect) and the evening gala incredible.
